2.2 billion people around the world don’t have access to safe water. 4.2 billion lack access to safely managed sanitation. Women and children spend more than four hours walking for water each day, and more than 840,000 people die each year from water-related diseases.

Cycling For Water, Inc. was created in 2017 to build awareness and raise funds through endurance cycling activities to help solve the global water and sanitation crisis. Cycling For Water is a joint effort between Water For People, a non-profit international development organization dedicated to helping develop lasting quality water and sanitation services in nine low- and middle-income countries, and EA Engineering, Science, and Technology, Inc., PBC (EA), a leading provider of interdisciplinary environmental services.

Cycling For Water four-person teams raced in 2017 and 2019 in the Race Across America, and a two-person team raced in the Race Across The West in 2021 and 2022. The signature event for Cycling for Water this year is Race Across the West. In June 2024, a single-rider will embark on more than 930 miles across the western United States to raise money and awareness for clean water and sanitation.
